Carine Paige Lindauer and Jason Michael Gursky have announced their engagement to be married in November.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Ilona and Charles Lindauer of Los Altos. She graduated from Los Altos High School and has degrees from UCLA and the Johns Hopkins SAIS School of International Studies in Washington, D.C. She works in the Internet Payment Services group of Wells Fargo Bank in Walnut Creek.

The groom-to-be is the son of Kathy and Barry Gursky of Brentwood. He graduated from the University of California, Davis, and the Johns Hopkins SAIS School of International Studies. He is currently working on his master’s degree in business at the University of California, Berkeley.

For the first time in five years, a public elementary school, Gardner Bullis, opened its doors last week in Los Altos Hills. For some, it was, metaphorically speaking, the last stitch removed from the old wound following the closure of the original Bullis-Purissima School in 2003.

For others, including the diehards who formed the successful Bullis Charter School, the sting of the Bullis closure lingers. But our sense is that for most Hills residents not part of the Loyola School coverage area, the opening of Gardner Bullis means the resurrection of a long-sought-after neighborhood school and the community benefits that come with it.
