By Julia Randazzo and Take Note and The Djacks will headline a concert and dinner benefit for the Poor Clare Monastery scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Oct. 19, at St. Joseph School, 1120 Miramonte Ave. in Mountain View. There will also be a donation-drawing for an acoustic guitar and an afghan made the Poor Clare sisters.

Proceeds from the evening will assist in the rebuilding of the Poor Clare Monastery in Los Altos Hills. The monastery, built in 1920, was originally the home of the Gibson family. Today, it badly needs repairs and earthquake retrofitting.

Donations of $15 per person or $25 per family will go directly to the monastery building fund.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
