A day after earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career, University of Texas junior midfielder Kati McBain of Los Altos was selected to the Soccer America Team of the Week Sept. 4.
The St. Francis High graduate garnered these honors for her six-point performance during Texas’ opening weekend against New Mexico and No. 21-ranked Duke.
One of 11 players and three midfielders named to the squad, McBain earns Soccer America Team of the Week distinctions for the first time in her career and is the fifth Longhorn ever to be recognized with this honor.
McBain not only scored a goal and assisted on another during UT’s season opener against New Mexico on Aug. 30, but also put forth the same results in Texas’ next match - a 2-1 victory over Duke on Sept. 1.
Additionally, by helping the Horns to a pair of victories to start the season, McBain helped Texas start a season 2-0 for the first time since 1999.
A two-time All-Big 12 selection and 2002 Preseason All-Big 12 honoree, McBain leads the Longhorns and the Big 12 in points scored and needs four more assists to set the school career mark in that category.
