The Mountain View Recreation Division on Monday will begin accepting registration for both its adult basketball and adult coed volleyball leagues. Each league guarantees teams will play 12 games, plus playoffs for the top-four finishers. Games start the week of Oct. 14. Mandatory team manager meetings for both leagues are scheduled for 7 p.m., today, at the Mountain View Community Center, 266 Escuela Ave. The basketball league plays Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Whisman Sports Center and the Mountain View Sports Pavilion. A boating skills and seamanship class offered by Flotilla 43 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary starts tonight at the Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Ave. Classes cover: boat construction and nomenclature; boat handling; safety and legal requirements; navigation rules; aids to navigation; tailoring; piloting; marine engines; knots and line handling; basic sailing; weather; marine radiotelephone; inland waterways; and locks and dams.
