TheatreWorks continues its 33rd season with its production of “Ragtime,” running today through Sept. 29.
“Ragtime” will be staged at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.
This award-winning musical chronicles the journeys of a black man, a Jewish immigrant and an upper-class family as they struggle to find their place in a rapidly changing America at the dawning of the 20th century.
“Ragtime” is being directed by Robert Kelley, with book by Terrence McNally. The cast includes C. Mingo Long as Coalhouse, Joye Ross as Sarah, Alice Vienneau as Mother, Jonathon Hammond as Tateh, Randall Gremillion as Father and ‘vid Buttaro as Younger Brother.
Preview performances are set for 8 p.m., today through Friday; opening night is at the same time Saturday. Future performances are slated for 7:30 p.m., Tuesdays; 8 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays; 2 p.m., Sundays, Sept. 14, 21 and 28; and 7 p.m., Sunday, and Sept. 15.
