For local car lovers, the Los Altos Fall Festival with its Classic Car Show has become an annual treat to look forward to.

Scheduled this year for Oct. 5 and 6, the car show will fill the south parking plaza between First and Second streets in downtown Los Altos with about 30 cars each day.

The only theme of this car show is what Los Altos auto enthusiasts have parked in their garages.

Cars on display over the two days are likely to include everything from Model Ts and Packards to custom hot rods, muscle cars and elegant English sports cars.

Awards with no specific criteria in mind will be presented by the mayors, the chief of police, and the high school principal. A championship class of previous winners will vie for the prestigious Town Crier Classics awards.

If you’re interested in sharing your pride and joy with other car fans, call the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce at 948-1455 or call car show organizer Bob Mabe at 941-6534.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
