By HARRISON, Elizabeth Adelaide was born September 2, 1915, in Marysville, California and entered into rest on Friday, July 26, 2002, in Palo Alto, California. Her beloved husband, Leslie William Harrison, preceded her in the death in 1991. Three children survive her: Judith Lynn Milano, Janice Leslie Pell and John Lawrence Harrison, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as the former owner and talented floral designer of Adelaide's Florist Shop of Rancho Shopping Center, Los Altos, California. Adelaide was an active and involved 48-year resident of Los Altos and devoted member of St. Williams Catholic Church, Los Altos. She will be deeply missed all. Donations can be made in the memory of Adelaide to Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, 2626 Zanker Road, San Jose, CA 95134-2107. Services were held at St. Williams Catholic Church in Los Altos.

SUHONEN, Seppo “Whitey”

Mr. Suhonen, 76, was a native of Finland. He worked as an engineer for 41 years for Philco with subsequent mergers with Ford and Loral. He enlisted at 17 in the U.S. Navy and served on a submarine which saw action in the South Pacific during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea, in Los Altos and one son and three grandchildren.

CARLSON, Lloyd, 82, of Cupertino, formerly 41 year resident of Palo Alto, died August 19, 2002. A retired attorney with Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro in San Francisco and later Harbison, Carlson, and Tune. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane, and two daughters, Diane (John) Weisenbuger of Los Altos, and Janet (Gary) Basileu of El Darado Hills, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. By his request, a private memorial service was held. He will be greatly missed by friends, family and his domino buddies. Arrangements under the direction of the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, 399 So. San Antonio Road, Los Altos. The family requests donations be made to the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, 725 Welch Rd., Palo Alto 94304 or the Cancer Society.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
