Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Avenue, Los Altos, and the League of Women Voters are co-sponsoring a special 9/11 program from 7-9 p.m., Monday in the Parish Hall.

The evening will begin with an ice cream social to be followed with a talk by Rosemary Stasek, Mountain View City Council member.

As a follow up to her visit to Afghanistan last May and as a member of a reconstruction delegation of Afghan-Americans, Stasek will share her insights on the current political and social issues facing Afghanistan, including a historical review and personal experiences of life in Post-Taliban Afghanistan. For more information about the program, call the church at 948- 8430.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
