A new 30-minute workout for busy local women
Business Profile
Most fitness programs and gyms were originally designed for men and adapted for women, but Kristin Gerhard changed that she opened Lady Circuit - 30 Minute Fitness center last Saturday.
Lady Circuit is the first center in Northern California featuring the nationwide PACE program (Programmed Aerobic and Anaerobic Accommodating Circuit Exercise) designed specifically for women.
“This place is for the everyday woman.” Gerhard commented.
The PACE 30-minute program provides a total body workout combining strength and cardiovascular exercises using hydraulic resistance equipment. There are no weights involved.
“You can be 14 or 104, this system can be used by everyone,” said Gerhard.
The circular arrangement of equipment allows individuals to begin their workouts at any station on the circuit rather than follow a pre-programmed routine. Quick, 35 second rotations to the next station pick up the pace.
The absence of mirrors encourages participants to focus on becoming healthier rather than body image.
During a complete workout, participants complete the circuit three times alternating between exercise on the hydraulic strength machines and recovery on aerobic stations such as step benches between each machine. An instructor is available to help motivate, maintain focus and guide the participants.
“It’s like group personal training,” said Gerhard.
She stressed the safety in the equipment and how this program focuses on fun, non-threatening group fitness. It is a place where women can retreat to get in shape and become healthier.
Even before Lady Circuit’s opening last Saturday, several Los Altos and Los Altos Hills women had already scheduled interviews.
Lady Circuit - 30 Minute Fitness is located at 1320 South Mary Ave. in Sunnyvale, at the corner of Fremont and Mary avenues. For more information, call (408) 524-0600.
