The Los Altos History Museum will open its newest exhibit, “Los Altos: Celebrating 50 Years of Community,” Thursday as part of the citywide events scheduled throughout the year to commemorate the city’s 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the Los Altos. The exhibit will continue through Jan. 5, 2003.

The exhibit features significant events in the community from the 1950s to present, beginning with the controversy surrounding incorporation itself.

The exhibit is organized by decade and showcases fun, fascinating and frivolous times to set the scene, as well as typical toys from the past 50 years.

All residents of Los Altos when the city was incorporated in 1952 are invited to attend an exhibit preview party from 5 - 7 p.m., Aug. 22.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
