By Riding demos, BBQ to highlight event
Town Crier Staff Report
The historic Westwind Barn in Los Altos Hills invites the public to its festive “Hoedown” 5 - 10 p.m., Sept. 7.
The evening will feature riding demonstrations, a barbeque dinner, a silent auction and square dancing to live music under the stars.
All town residents who enjoy horses and open space are invited to the family event, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Friends of Westwind. The efforts of this group have made the hilltop barn and its adjacent fields a special place for wildlife and residents to enjoy.
Proceeds from the event will help support and preserve the historic barn and its 14-acre property, built in the 1940s by Frank Ellithorpe and given to the town in 1975. It will also assist the 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program for children with severe physical disabilities.
For more information or to reserve tickets, call 941-6113. Tickets are also available at the door. The cost is $25 for adults, $20 for youth and seniors. Children under 6 are free.
Westwind Community Barn is located at 27210 Altamont Road (between Page Mill and Moody Roads, adjacent to Byrne Preserve) in Los Altos Hills. For more information logon to Web site is www.westwindbarn.com.
