AYSO Region 43, Los Altos, hosts a Major League Soccer Camp Monday through Aug. 23 at Santa Rita School in Los Altos.

Programs for ages 6-9 run 9 a.m. to noon; ages 10-18 run 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The MLS Camp is the official camp of Major League Soccer, a pro league that includes the San Jose Earthquakes among its members.

A team of international coaches, most of whom are from the United Kingdom, are fully trained in the age-specific needs of young soccer players and are considered experts in soccer skills and techniques.

The weeklong camp costs $110 for ages 6-9 and $160 for ages 10-18. Every camper will receive a soccer ball, T-shirt, individual player evaluation, MLS gift and free companion ticket to an MLS game.

After the program, players will participate in an end-of-camp graduation ceremony.

For more information or to register for the camp, call 948-1986 or logon to www.MLScamps.com.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
