By MROSD meeting on annexation

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Board of Directors will be meeting July 31 in Los Altos to hear public input about annexation of 240,000 acres of coastal land.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment on a draft environmental impact report about the district’s influence on lands that range from south of San Francisco to just north of Santa Cruz County.

District officials have been working since 1997 to annex 220 square miles of San Mateo County coastal lands. The lengthy process has already involved more than 20 public hearings showing positive support for the effort.

The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at district offices, 330 Distel Circle, Los Altos.

Stalking suspect to be arraigned

Los Altos

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office is moving forward with prosecution against a woman who allegedly has stalked and threatened a Los Altos employee for several months.

Mai Thi Vu was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday for felony stalking and felony terrorist threats against the former girlfriend of her estranged husband.

Vu was arrested July 9 after police from San Jose and Milpitas and the state Department of Justice searched her Milpitas home. The search warrant was served after a lengthy investigation into Vu’s activities, which included allegedly stalking the victim at her home and work, making death threats over the phone and attempts at having the victim assaulted.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld for her protection, is staying away from her home for her safety, Los Altos police said.

Vu is currently out on bail.
