A flea market to benefit Foothill Music Theatre has been scheduled 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 20, in parking lot 7 at the Foothill College campus. Items for sale include antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts, plants, furniture, computer parts, books, housewares and seasonal decorations.

Visitors must purchase a parking permit for $2.

Vendor space is available for future flea markets Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.

Los Altos Art Docents seeking volunteers

The Los Altos Art Docents will start a new training session in September.

The art docents are trained volunteers who teach art appreciation and hands-on art projects in the six Los Altos elementary schools. An art background is not necessary, only a love of art and a willingness to share that love with children.

Los Altos library summer movies

The Los Altos main library will show family movies this summer.

Family movies are rated G or PG and are for all ages. They are scheduled for 2 p.m., July 27, Aug. 10, Aug. 17 and Aug. 24.

Movies for teens (PG and PG 13 rated movies for ages 13-18) are scheduled for 7 p.m., July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 9, Aug. 16 and Aug. 23.

Music for Minors seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed to become music docents in local elementary schools where music programs have been cut for primary grade classes.

Music for Minors, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing a lifelong love of music in children, is now accepting applications for volunteers to join a dedicated team who teach music to grades K-3.

Extensive training is provided on basic music theory, lesson planning, classroom management, rhythm and movement activities and a variety of approaches to teaching music.

All volunteer docents receive college accredited training. Classes are about 2.5 hours long and are held twice a week in Los Altos and San Mateo, Sept. 10 through Nov. 26.

Anyone who is interested in music, has experience working with small groups of children, and can sing in pitch is encouraged to apply. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Montecito School anniversary celebration

Montecito School in Los Altos is scheduled to celebrate its 40th anniversary, July 27, noon to 5 p.m., at Montecito School, 1468 Grant Road.

Bring a picnic lunch, beverages and cake will be provided. Activities include games, face painting and an Astro Jump.

Anniversary T-shirts will be sold and there will be tiles to decorate

The 40th anniversary sculpture will be unveiled.

Classroom tours will be offered.
