Los Altos police are keeping close watch on both suspect and victim in a bizarre love triangle that involves an estranged husband and wife, and a former girlfriend.
The former girlfriend, who works in Los Altos, has been stalked by the estranged wife for several months now, said chief investigator, Los Altos Det. Joseph Mamone.
Mamone said the victim became involved with the husband of the suspect, Mai Thi Vu, in January, triggering Vu’s alleged retaliation at the former girlfriend.
Vu has allegedly stalked the former girlfriend at her workplace and her Milpitas home.
She also has allegedly phoned death threats and planned to have the victim assaulted.
Police from Los Altos, San Jose and Milpitas, with the assistance of the state’s Bureau of Narcotics team with the Dept. of Justice, served Vu with a search warrant on July 9. After finding a large amount of cash, phone records showing calls related to the threats and a stolen .45 caliber automatic pistol, police arrested Vu for felony threats, stalking and solicitation to commit a felony.
Vu posted $45,000 bail and was released the following day.
“The victim is still at risk,” Mamone said. “She is being protected, as best we can provide.”
The victim’s name and specific location of business is being withheld for her protection.
