Town Crier Staff Report

The Los Altos Minor Little League All-Stars will play for the District 44 championship Thursday at McKelvey Park in Mountain View.

Los Altos will face either Serra or Sunnyvale National at 5:30 p.m.

Undefeated Los Altos reached the championship round by routing Serra 11-0 last Sunday at Earl Carmichael Park in Santa Clara.

Los Altos took control of the game early, jumping out to a 6-0 lead after just two innings.

Los Altos starting pitcher Sammy Meyer slugged two homers - including a three-run blast in the sixth inning - to finish with five RBIs.

Meyer proved just as dominating on the mound. He pitched a complete game, striking out 10 batters and allowing only four hits.

Other highlights for Los Altos included a solo homer by Austin O’Such, a two-run single from Max Lippe and an RBI-single by Spencer Wells.

A 6-2 loss to Moreland last Saturday at Robert Holman Field in Campbell eliminated Los Altos from its District 44 tournament

Los Altos took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kenny Peterman scored on a fielder’s choice. Moreland answered back in the bottom of the inning on Troy Milton’s solo homer.

Moreland built up a 4-1 lead by the fourth.

Los Altos scored its second run in the fifth, as Peterman scored on another fielder’s choice after belting a double.

A day earlier, Los Altos edged Sunnyvale National 2-1 at Santa Clara’s Earl Carmichael Park.
