Brenda Swirsding and David Weiser have announced their engagement to be married Aug. 3 at a friend’s home in Saratoga.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carl and JoAnne Swirsding of Los Altos. She is a graduate of St. Francis High School, and has received a bachelor’s degree in genetics, with a minor in art history from the University of California at Davis. She is employed at Cura Gen Corporation, New Haven, Conn.

The groom-to-be is the son of Barbara and Bob Fraser of Cloverdale, and Roy and Alisha Weiser of Sacramento. He graduated from Healdsburg High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California at Davis and a master’s degree in public health from Yale University. He is currently a student at UCCONN Medical School.

The couple plans to live in Middletown, Conn.
