June 17, 10:45 p.m., Mount Hamilton Avenue and San Antonio Road: Police discovered marijuana in a vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

Stray animal

June 18, 8:41 a.m., Eastwood Drive and Miramonte Avenue: Police investigated a report concerning a stray dog that had been injured.

Fire assist

June 19, 6:17 a.m., Damian Way: Firefighters responded to a residential fire alarm.

June 22, 7:32 p.m., Almond and El Monte avenues: Firefighters responded to a report that a fire hydrant was leaking.

Commercial alarm

June 19, 5:08 a.m., North San Antonio Road: Police responded to a commercial alarm.

Welfare check

June 19, 12:20 p.m., Main Street: Police checked on the welfare of a dog locked in a vehicle.

Mail theft

June 20, 11:12 a.m., Bay Tree Lane: A resident told police that mail had been taken from the home’s mailbox at an unknown date and time.

June 20, 8:35 p.m., Main Street: Police questioned a person suspected of being intoxicated in public.

June 21, 4:43 p.m., Vernal Court: A resident told police jewelry had been stolen from the home.

Drunk driving

June 22, 1:07 a.m., Highway 85 and Fremont Avenue: A motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
