By Bill Wilson Center, a non-profit agency that serves youth and their families through counseling, housing, education and advocacy, has elected Chris Halliwell of Los Altos to their Board of Directors. Halliwell's experience as an independent consultant providing business-to-business strategic marketing services is expected to play a key role in building stronger relationships in the community while further developing the financial strength of Bill Wilson Center.
“I have personally witnessed how important it is to have resources available to youths who are facing difficult times in their lives,” Halliwell said. “My goal is to expand the number of funding sources available to Bill Wilson Center and to increase awareness of the services the agency offers.”
“We’re very pleased that Chris joined our board,” said Sparky Harlan, executive director for Bill Wilson Center. “The board is in the process of reshaping itself for the future, and Chris’ business marketing background will help us reach into the community.”
Halliwell was a managing partner with Regis McKenna Inc., where she led the networking and semiconductor partners and practice groups.
Troop 37 recognized Ben Tucker at an Eagle Court of Honor on June 3 at the Los Altos Youth Center. Tucker joins the only 2 percent of all scouts ever to reach Scouting’s highest rank of Eagle. Tucker, a junior at The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale, completed a community service leadership project that involved the design, construction and installation of two large raised, wheelchair-accessible planter boxes for “Green Pastures,” a group home for disabled children in Mountain View. Troop 37 of Los Altos is the oldest troop of continuous operation in the Stanford Area Council and one of the oldest in California having first met in 1917.
