By YMCA hosts 'Out to Eat'

The Outlet Program of the YWCA of the Mid-Peninsula - a community resource for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth - has scheduled its fourth annual Out To Eat gala Tuesday at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto.

The fund-raising dinner and auction is the only program of its kind in northern Santa Clara County. Organizers hope to raise $25,000.

The event will feature dinner and an auction that includes such items as weekend getaway packages.

Three teens from the Outlet program are scheduled to speak at the event.

The Outlet program is the only one of its kind in the mid-Peninsula. It helps youth develop and affirm their identities.

Since 1997, Outlet has served more than 1,000 youth.

Tickets are $75 per person; $750 for a table of eight; and $40 for students 13-22.

For reservations, call 494-0972, ext. 301.

Buffet tickets may be purchased in advance for $48.

A limited number of tickets may be purchased at the door for $50.

Opened in 1997, Spago Palo Alto is Wolfgang Puck’s flagship Northern California restaurant, specializing in Mediterranean and California flavors.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
