Gail Trumbull died May 16 in Mountain View. A native of Riverside, she was 48.
Mrs. Trumbull is survived by her husband, Tom, of Mountain View; parents, Clinton and Jeanne Thorson; and siblings, Mark and Claire Thorson, Judy Preston and Kerry Behm.
Gertrude Koehler
Gertrude Koehler died May 18 in Los Altos. A native of Minnesota, she was 100.
Mrs. Koehler was an executive secretary with Los Angeles County.
She was the widow of Lawrence Andrew Koehler. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Keith Koehler and his wife Ruth of Los Altos; grandchildren, Steven and his wife Cathy of Los Altos, Jack and his wife Kris, and Jim and his wife Elizabeth; and three great-grandchildren.
David Butler
David Butler died May 18 after battling with cancer. He lived in Santa Clara County since 1967.
Mr. Butler retired last year after 34 years as project manager with General Electric Nuclear. He graduated from Stanford University in 1960. After college, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy submarine service aboard the USS Growler and the nuclear-powered USS Andrew Jackson.
Mr. Butler had a passion for sailing, digital photography and video. He designed a custom home in Almaden and fixed up classic cars.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his son Kyle. He is survived by his mother, Lois; wife, Joy; children, Kent, Kara, Karen Mehringer and Kris Bidwall; and three grandchildren.
Donal J. Broesamle
Donal J. Broesamle, a businessman and World War II fighter pilot, died May 17 at his Los Altos home. A native of Washington, he was 82.
Mr. Broesamle joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and rose to lieutenant colonel and squadron commander in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Broesamle attended the University of Oregon. He lived in Los Altos since 1950.
Mr. Broesamle is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; children, Peter Broesamle, Don Broesamle, John Broesamle and Katy Araujo; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister, Jane Best.
Services were held May 24.

Ralph Halsey Raymond
Ralph Halsey Raymond, a longtime Los Altos resident, died May 23. A native of Cupertino, he was 88.
Mr. Raymond’s family moved to Lincoln (now University) Avenue in Los Altos in 1919. His boyhood and lifelong friends were Harry Dutton and Alan Cranston.
Mr. Raymond graduated from Mountain View High School and then earned a degree in engineering from Stanford University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He later worked for Pacific Telephone for 32 years. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, playing football and setting several league records in the discus and javelin throw.
Mr. Raymond is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean; sister, Ruth Christenson; son, John; and grandchildren, Betsy and Max.

Margaret “Peggy” McKenzie Neylan died May 17 at her home in Los Altos following a two-year battle with cancer. She was born in San Francisco in 1925 and grew up in Berkeley, where she graduated from Berkeley High School.
Married in New York in 1948, she and her husband, Bill, moved to Menlo Park and then in 1964 to Los Altos. In addition to raising three children, she worked part time and volunteered for local charities. With taste and style, she managed to combine a sense of humor with a love for life that embraced everything from computers to trout fishing.
Mrs. Neylan was widowed two years ago. She is survived by her children, Linda Kinoshita and her husband Enoch, Wayne and his wife Elizabeth of Los Altos, and Nancy Christenson and her husband Dave; brother, Charles “Mac” McKenzie; sister, Kay Hopkins; and grandchildren, Kelley, Carolyn, Nick, Alex, Claire, Kyle and Kelsey.
