The thrill of competition and the aroma of chili will be wafting through the air Saturday as the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce presents its inaugural Summer Fest and Chili Cook-off.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. The chamber asks those attending not to bring their pets.

The Summer Fest will feature cooks and their teams vying for awards, plus live music, children’s activities, gourmet foods and a chance to sample some of the best chili the Mountain View community has to offer.

Chili tasting starts at 1 p.m. and tasting kits will be sold for $6 in limited quantities at 11:30 a.m. Judges will vote on the chili, to be prepared on site, with awards presented at 5 p.m.

The chamber seeks volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including set-up, ticket and booth duty and take-down.
