May 17, 6:21 a.m., Los Altos and Mariposa avenues: A homeless person was allegedly harassing passersby.

DUI

May 19, 2:20 p.m., Fremont Avenue and Grant Road: Police investigated a report of a motorist suspected of a hit-and-run accident. Officers arrested the motorist, allegedly driving while intoxicated, at a different location.

May 25, 4:18 a.m., Fremont Road and Highway 85: Police arrested a motorist drunk driving.

Petty theft

May 21, 3:46 p.m., Lassen Street: Someone took a maple tree from a back yard.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
