Los Altos High varsity swimming and diving coach Dan Dye recently won a Spring Sports Honor Coaches Award.
Dye, who just wrapped up his sixth season as the Eagles coach, was selected in a vote of his colleagues. The CCS picks an honor coach for every varsity sport and recognizes them at a breakfast.
Dye, a California native, said he didn’t expect to win the award.
“It was kind of a surprise for me,” he said. “There are a lot of good coaches in this area and I am very grateful they recognized me.”
Los Altos High athletic director Monica Lodge wasn’t all that surprised by Dye’s selection, though. After all, she nominated him for the award.
“He has been a great role model who has taught our student-athletes to set their goals high and focus on reaching them,” she said.
This season, both the Los Altos boys and girls swim teams finished 11th at the CCS championships.
Prior to coming to Los Altos, Dye coached at Coe College in Iowa, Kenosha High in Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater.
