Los Altos resident John Hearne finished fourth in his age group at the NASTAR Ski Racing Championships, held recently in Park City, Utah.

Hearne competed in the men’s 55-59 age division, which included 20 participants.

Hearne skied four runs and scored a 25.140 in the championships, held March 28-31 at Park City’s Mountain Resort.

The 59-year-old represented Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, where he skied throughout the season. He ranked second in his age group among Alpine Meadows skiers in 2002, which qualified him for the NASTAR event.

Hearne was among nearly 900 ski racers nationwide to qualify for the NASTAR Championships, an annual competition that began 33 years ago.
