The Silicon Valley Association of Realtors will hold its second annual Realtor Safety and Service Volunteer Program Saturday through May 25, to help those who are advanced in age, disabled or otherwise challenged with repairs and other tasks in their homes. The community outreach program is available for residents of Los Altos and Mountain View this year.
In Los Altos and Mountain View, the program will be held Saturday and Sunday.
The free program is a hands-on effort by local realtors and affiliate members, including lenders, title companies, insurance agencies and home inspectors. Small teams of volunteers will go to homes to carry out tasks such as changing furnace filters, replacing smoke detector batteries, painting house numbers on curbs, washing windows or cleaning gutters.
“We feel this fills a void in the services that are currently provided for homebound seniors,” said area coordinator Nancy Goldcamp of Coldwell Banker in Palo Alto. “We love our work and wish to give back to the community in a way that relates to our business.”
“Our community outreach program is focused on those who need extra help in keeping their homes safe,” said Alicia Tuvell, president of Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.”We are committed to providing programs that support the communities in which we live and work.”
