Alice Genevieve Rapley died April 3. A native of Menlo Park, she was 92.

Ms. Rapley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was an air traffic controller in Corpus Christi, Texas, and taught school in Germany for U.S. military dependents. On returning to the state, she taught grade school in the Los Altos School District for 38 years.

Ms. Rapley is survived by her siblings, James Rapley and Pauline Murphy of Los Altos. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter Rapley, Jesse Rapley, Loyola Carlson, Theresa Rapley and Catherine Treagle.

Clayton Earle Risley

Clayton Earle Risley died April 7. A native of Alameda, he was two weeks shy of his 80th birthday.

Mr. Risley was valedictorian of his Boulder Creek High School Class. Better known as “Riz the Whiz,” for his ready smile, quick wit, hard drive and knowledgeable solutions to almost any problems.

Mr. Risley was a decorated war hero, military and civic leader, inventor, real estate broker.

He was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Flying Cross and three air medals for his service in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.

After retiring form the Navy with 26 years of service, Mr. Risely founded Navy Associates of America, a real estate and referral buying service.

Mr. Risley is survived by his wife, Bunny; daughter, Deanna Gardner; and granddaughters, Marisa and Alexandra Gardner.

Robert L. ‘Bob’ Davis

Robert L. “Bob” Davis, former lobbyist for the California Grocers Association and member of the Republican Central Committee, died April 14. A native of Santa Cruz, he was 74.

Mr. Davis was raised on the Stanford University Campus, where his father was the chief of police.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Jeffrey and Gregory; grandsons, Gregory Jr., Robert and Daniel; extended granddaughters, Martinique, Laurnice and Jenielle.

Robert C. Dorricott

Robert C. Dorricott died April 26 at his Los Altos HIlls home. A native of California, he was 65.

Mr. Dorricott was president of Sunnyvale Valve and Fitting.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Dorricott; children, Robert P. Dorricott and his wife Diane, Jeffrey Dorricott and his wife Tracy and Pamela Dorricott of Los Altos; siblings, Richard Dorricott and Edwin Dorricott and his wife Yvonne; and grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Carolyn, Peter, Bradley and Philip.

Bernice L. Raley

Bernice L. Raley, a longtime former Los Altos Hills resident, died April 24. A native of California, she was 85.

Mrs. Raley was a teacher with the Whisman School District. She was a member of the Mountain View Eternal Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She was the widow of William H. “Bill” Raley. She is survived by her children, W.R. “Dick” Raley and Ladele Raley Smith; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Herbert Brooks “Stub” Hatch Jr. died April 24. A native of Minnesota, he was 83.

With the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the Army Air Force Aviation Cadet program. He was assigned to the 71st Fighter Squadron, first fighter group, Fifteenth Air Force, in Foggia, Italy. As a combat fighter pilot, he flew 59 missions and was decorated numerous times.

After the war, Mr. Hatch settled in Placerville and opened a Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Cadillac dealership. He moved to Los Altos in 1955 where he opened Hatch Chevrolet Company. He remained there until 1972.

Mr. Hatch is survived by his wife of 64 years, Amy; children, Herbert Brooks Hatch III and his wife, Janis, Amy Elizabeth and her husband Robert Hughes, and Julie Ann and her husband Patrick McGowan; three grandchildren; and one-great grandson.
