By Black named president of banking group

Susan K. Black, of Los Altos, has been appointed the president of Greater Bay Bankcorp’s community banking group. She will continue to serve as president and chief executive officer of Mid-Peninsula Bank, a subsidiary of Greater Bay Bankcorp. Black has been an officer of Mid-Peninsula Bank since its formation in 1987.

Bridge Bank has successful first quarter

Bridge Bank of Silicon Valley announced total assets of $122.2 million at the end of the first quarter of this year - a growth of $26 million since the last quarter of 2001. The full-service business bank, holds the all-time record for asset growth by any new California bank, according to Carpenter and Company, a bank advisory firm. Allan Kramer, of Los Altos, is the bank’s chairman of the board.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
