Monday’s banquet to honor players selected for the 28th Annual Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game will have a distinct local flavor, with nine of the 80 participants from area schools.

Local players slated to play in the July 24 game include: Thomas Roux (Los Altos High); Trevor Hooper, Jordan Nelson and Matt Turnbull (Mountain View); Mike Ribero and Aaron Rouleau (St. Francis); Steven Nichols (Homestead); and Juan Marquez and Robbie Perry (Gunn).

The banquet is set for 6 p.m. at Three Flames Restaurant, 1547 Meridian Ave., San Jose. Guest speakers include San Jose State University football coach Fitz Hill and NFL referee Bill Leavey.

The nine local players selected for the all-star game, featuring the county’s top seniors, will play for the North team under Palo Alto’s Earl Hansen. The game will be held at San Jose City College.
