Grace M. Tuttle

Grace M. Tuttle died March 19 in Los Altos after a brief illness. She was 83.

A memorial service is planned for this spring .

Verla A. Martin

Verla A. Martin died April 13 with family at her side. She was 85.

Mrs. Martin retired from El Camino Hospital, Recovery Room in 1982.

Services have been held.

Audrey Brown

Audrey Meieró Brown died April 14 In Mountain View. She was 82.

Audrey was the founding president of Planned Parenthood in San Mateo County, a former member of the San Mateo County Grand Jury, and a dedicated worker for Family Service Agency. She and her husband also owned and managed the Gateway Motor Hotel in Vallejo.

She was a graduate of Lowell High School and U.C. Berkeley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent H. Brown, to whom she would have been married 60 years on the day before she died. She is survived by children, Cameron B. Trowbridge of Los Altos and Vincent H. Brown, Jr. ; grandchildren, Curt, Scott and Anne Engbretson and David, Kate and Laura Brown.

Friends and family are invited to gather in her honor at 3 p.m., May 4 at the Forum at Rancho San Antonio, 23500 Cristo Rey, Cupertino.

In her memory, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood or Family Service Agency of San Mateo County.

Margaret ‘Peg’ Althaus,

Margaret “Peg” Althaus, a longtime Los Altos Hills resident, died Feb. 26. A native of New Jersey, she was 91.

Mrs. Althaus is survived by her children, Sean R. Althaus, Lynn A.

Dempsey and Kate Hughes; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her

husband of 44 years, Charles F. Althaus, MD, a family physician.

Eunice Vivian Coupe

Eunice Vivian Coupe, a longtime Los Altos Hills resident, died April 6. A native of Santa Clara County, she was 89.

Mrs. Coupe was a teacher, scholar, author and athlete. She held a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of the Pacific, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She taught at eight high schools and co-authored a children’s book with her husband called “Who’s Who in the Zoo.”

Mrs. Coupe was the widow of Walter H. Coupe. She is survived by her four children, Linda C. Lanterman, Dennis F. Cupe, Jeffrey W. Cupe and Dean R.Cupe; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Eleanor Marie Bridges

Eleanor Marie Bridges died April 22. A native of San Francisco, she was 78.

Mrs. Bridges loved Los Altos, family members said. She and her husband Dave moved to Los Altos in 1952 to raise their family. She was a longtime member of ST. William’s Parish.

Friends and family said they will miss Mrs. Bridges’ caring empathy, roses and spaghetti sauce.

Mrs. Bridges is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dave, a retired Pan Am pilot; children, Dan Bridges and his wife, Val of Los Altos, Ross Bridges and his wife Dawn of Mountain View and Pamela Bridges; and grandchildren, Heather, Haley, Phoebe, Lily, Blake, Craig and Todd.

Maria E.Sobrino

Maria E. Sobrino of Los Altos died of breast cancer April 12. She was 42.

Mrs. Sobrino was a partner in the law firm of Blakely Sokoloff, Taylor and Zafman. She graduated from Villanova University in Pennsylvania with a degree in electrical engineering. While working as an engineer, she attended law school at St. Johns University in New York. and received her Juris Doctor degree in 1985.

She became the first female partner with Blakely Sokoloff in 1992.

Mrs. Sobrino was active in sports and girl Scouts and worked as a counselor as well as a life guard in summer camps. After being diagnosed with cancer in 1998, she continued her patent work at Blakeley Sokoloff and volunteered in her sons’ classrooms at Almond School in Los Altos.

Mrs. Sobrino is survived by her husband, Pedro; two children, Peter and James; parents, Virignia and John F. McCormack; and siblings, John, Chrisotpher and Patricia.

Frank Stowe

Frank Stowe died March 21. A native of California, he was 84.

Mr. Stowe was a quality control engineer at Lockheed for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Cecile Stowe and sister, Betty Pierce.
