By Raffle tickets are available for the "American Stars Quilt" created The Crazy Cut Ups Quilt Group. The quilt honors the Menlo Park Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team (USART). The drawing for the 54.5-- 68-inch quilt is set for July 4 at Shoup Park in Los Altos.

All proceeds benefit the Menlo Park Fire Department USART Team which has contributed emergency relief in several major disasters, including the 2001 World Trade Center attack.

2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

Ticket donations are $1, or 6 for $5. Winners do not need to be present. To purchase tickets, call Verlain at 948-6789 or Chris at 968-8405.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
