Jake Robbins struck out all 12 batters he faced April 6 to help the Los Altos Pony Braves beat the Rockies in a Bronco Division baseball game. The 10-year-old also hit a single, double and triple in the contest, which the Braves won 8-5. Robbins entered the game in the fourth inning, with his team trailing 5-3.
Walk the ‘Earth’
The Earth Day Bay Walk, a five-day trip starting in Mountain View, begins Thursday. This journey along the Bay Trail concludes Monday, Earth Day, in San Francisco. For more information, call Peter Drekmeier at 320-8699.
A ‘Golden’ camp
Registration has begun for the 17th annual Golden Eagle Summer Swim & Sports Camp, which runs June 17 through Aug. 2 at Los Altos High. The camp is operated by Monica Lodge, Los Altos athletic director and physical education teacher, and Nelson Lodge, USSA licensed soccer coach and P.E. teacher. Classes include swimming, water polo, softball, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, field hockey, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, golf, wrestling and dance. Camp is for ages 5-14. Play ball
Sign-ups for Mountain View Babe Ruth Seniors are scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. the next two Saturdays at McKelvey Ballpark on Miramonte Avenue, one block west of El Camino Real in Mountain View.
