Golfers of any age are invited to play a round of golf at Mountain View High School’s Annual Golf Tournament, scheduled for 11 a.m., May 11, at Shoreline Golf Links. This golf tournament is part of an effort by parents of the Mountain View High School graduating class of 2002 to raise much-needed funds for their annual all-night, safe, fun “Grad Night”celebration.

In order to keep the price of the tickets below actual expenses and affordable to most, as well as to provide scholarships to all those students who would otherwise not be able to attend, the parents have planned a number of fund-raising activities, including this golf tournament.

There will be putting contests, closest-to-the-hole contests and more. Golfers may choose best ball or scramble format. Individuals, partners or foursomes are invited to register now. The $125 fee includes lunch, golf cart, tee prize, post- tournament snacks, raffle ticket and many surprises. Golfers may also consider having individual, family or company names listed as hole or green sponsor for just $250, or you may share a tax-deductible sponsorship.

To register, please send a check made out to MVHS Grad Night, format preference (including handicap if for best ball) and partner information to: “MVHS Grad Night,” c/o Richard Freedland, 1010 Madison Drive, Mountain View, CA 94040. For more information, call Richard Freeland at 996-6385, or e-mail him at: Rich1010@pacbell.net.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
