The Garden Club of Los Altos in conjunction with the Los Altos Recreation Department is holding a plant exchange 10 a.m. to noon, April 27, in the Hillview Community Center parking lot, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.
Visitors can bring extra plants, seedlings, cuttings, bulbs, seeds and small shrubs and trees and take home something new in exchange.

Friends of Library used book sale
The Friends of the Los Altos Library will hold a used book sale May 3-5 at the Hillview Community Center in Los Altos. Hours are: 7-9 p.m., Friday, for members only; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday; and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday (by the bag).

Avoiding stress and injuries
“How to move your body and avoid stress and injuries” is the topic of an interactive workshop to be held 6:30 p.m., today, at El Camino Hospital, 2500 Grant Road, Mountain View.
Dr. Rachel Frozenfar, chiropractor, will speak on ways to protect and treat your body in order to live a more productive lifestyle. Randy Lane, massage therapist, will talk about healing techniques for the body.
In the interactive workshop, you will learn how to bend, lift, carry and perform tasks in ways that prevent injuries; exercises that strenghten your back and other areas; what to do if you have fallen in order to prevent further injuries; and stress and relaxation tips.

Westwind Barn celebrates Earth Day
Westwind Barn in Los Altos Hills will be holding its first Earth Day celebration, 1-4 p.m., Sunday.
The event will feature exhibits by Los Altos Hills committees, local environmental groups and school groups. As a special attraction, Leopard’s Etc. will hold a “Live Wild Cats” education program. Presentations are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m..

Baylight Church cleans up
The Baylight Church of Religious Science in Los Altos plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a cleanup of downtown Los Altos and anniversary teas.
The cleanup is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, with participants meeting 7:45 a.m. at the Masonic Hall, 146 Main St., Room 205.

Mtn. View yard sale scheduled for May 11
The 7th Annual Mountain View Community Yard Sale will be held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 11, in Rengstorff Park, 201 Rengstorff Ave.
This event will coincide with the new citywide garage sale for Mountain View residents who wish to sell items from their front yards or driveways, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participating addresses will be listed on the city’s Web site at www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/citynews/garagesale.htm, and will also be available at 7-Eleven stores and Dana Street Roasting Company, Red Rock Coffee Company and Starbucks locations in Mountain View.

One-woman show at Beth Am
“Flowers Aren’t Enough” is a powerful original one-woman show about women’s courage to make a change. Written and performed by Naomi Ackerman, an American-born Israeli artist, this performance will be presented at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Road, Los Altos Hills. Tickets cost $25, $15 for students, seniors and low-income citizens. Proceeds benefit Sequoia Hadassah-Aviv projects.
The play is a monologue that tells the story of Michelle, a young woman struggling in an abusive relationship, unable to reach out for help in finding the courage to make a change.
The hourlong performance is followed by an hour of discussion with the audience.

Gallery 9 schedules Kasle monotypes
Gallery 9 has scheduled an exhibit “Another Place, Another Time,” monotypes by Maida Kasle of Menlo Park, Tuesday through May 25.
Kasle reflects her interest in people in her painting and printmaking, Most of her people come from the glamorous and not-so-glamorous past.
