By Astronomy lecture at Foothill College

Dr. Debra Fischer from the University of California at Berkeley, has scheduled a nontechnical illustrated lecture on the search for systems of planets around other stars, 7-8:30 p.m., today, in Smithwick Theater at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Zimbabwe orphan run fund-raiser

The third annual “Run for Zimbabwe Orphans” has been scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, at St. Joseph School, 1120 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View. Registration is $5 per runner and is open from kindergartners to adults. All proceeds go to the Makumbi Children’s Home in Zimbabwe. Runners may register from 11:30 a.m. to 20 minutes before their race.

Foothill College flea market benefit

Foothill College has scheduled its monthly flea market 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 20, in parking lot 7 at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Proceeds will benefit the Foothill Music Theater. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. A wide variety of items will be for sale.

Visitors must purchase a parking pass for $2. Vendor space is available.
