The El Camino YMCA will host 2002 Healthy Kids Day, a nationwide celebration of family health and fitness, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday.

The free event will be held at Cuesta Park in Mountain View. The 11th annual Healthy Kids Day will emphasize the importance of good health in a fun environment.

“Healthy Kids Day offers fun, hands-on activities that nurture children’s creativity and promote family involvement and learning,” said El Camino YMCA senior program director Kim Parker. “It’s a great day that the whole community enjoys.”

The El Camino YMCA, in collaboration with 18 other community agencies, including the American Cancer Society and Healthy Start, will provide a day of fun that communicates the importance of exercise and healthy living for the entire family.

Activities will include soccer, volleyball, nutritional information, fitness testing, football, flag football and other games.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
