Menlo Park-based Cashin Company is scheduled to move into the highly visible Gateway Building at 496 First St. next month. The downstairs portion of the building was vacated by Coldwell Banker April 1.

Cashin will use temporary offices at 360 S. San Antonio Road until May 15, when it can occupy its permanent location in the Gateway Building.

Cashin Company was founded in 1995 by Emmett J. “Skip” Cashin III, one of the pioneers in Bay Area real estate, and Chuck Alloo.

Skip and his father, the late Emmett J. Cashin Jr., had built Fox & Carskadon into one of the nation’s largest independent real estate companies before selling it to Coldwell Banker in 1995.

Alloo, a 25-year Los Altos resident and the company’s current CEO, worked with Cashin and George Monaco when he was chief financial officer at Fox & Carskadon.

Los Altos represents the sixth Peninsula office for Cashin Company, which has more than 200 agents working out of its Menlo Park, Woodside, Burlingame, San Carlos and San Mateo offices.

“Cashin Company is an independent, family-owned business dedicated to serving the local Peninsula communities,” said President Skip Cashin III.

“We care about our clients, and our success is based on unparalleled customer service, local knowledge and personal relationships,” Cashin said.

Monaco, a longtime Coldwell Banker employee, will serve as vice president and manager of the Los Altos office.

“We are very fortunate to have George as our manager,” Cashin said.

“He is very experienced, with a strong Los Altos background.”

Monaco noted, “Within a year, we expect to have more than 60 real estate agents working out of the Los Altos office.”

He added, “I’m very excited about this opportunity. We have a dynamite location, well known for residential real estate, and we have the support and tradition of a company known for quality and integrity.”

One of the key ingredients in the success of Cashin Company is its tradition of “giving back” to the community. It supports more than 30 local charities on the Peninsula.

Company officials present a $1,000 community service award to outstanding seniors at each of the high schools in the local service area.
