By LAHS 'Grad Night 2002' fund-raiser

The Los Altos High School “Grad Night 2002″ committee has scheduled a fund-raiser today, at Chevy’s Fresh Mex, 2116 W. El Camino Real, Mountain View. Twenty percent of the cost of meals purchased will be donated to “Grad Night 2002.” For more information, call 960-8811.

Astronomy lecture at Foothill College

Dr. Debra Fischer from University of California, Berkeley, has scheduled a nontechnical illustrated lecture on the search for systems of planets around other stars, 7-8:30 p.m., April 10, in Smithwick Theater at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Annual Zimbabwe run fund-raiser

The third annual “Run for Zimbabwe Orphans” has been scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., April 14, at St. Joseph School, 1120 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View. Registration costs $5 per runner and is open to kindergartners to adults. All proceeds go to the Makumbi Children’s Home in Zimbabwe. Runners may register from 11:30 a.m. to 20 minutes before their race. For more information or for a registration form, call race director Ellen Clark at 941-9206.

Southbay Christian teachers gala

Southbay Christian School has scheduled a “Teachers Gala Dinner,” 6:30-9:30 p.m., April 13, at the Historic Del Monte Building in Sunnyvale. The formal dinner is focused on honoring the dedication of teachers at Southbay. Entertainment includes a performance by the world-renowned cellist Doug McClure. For more information, call 961-9485.
