The Los Altos School District has announced that it will offer summer school enrichment classes this year at Loyola and Oak elementary schools.
The enrichment program will feature a wide variety of learning opportunities and challenges for students living within district boundaries. Those entering grades 2 through 7 in the fall of 2002 are invited to enroll in the program.
Primary classes will include: Children Around the World; Drama; Folk Tales/Folklore and Fantasies; Creepy Crawlies; Tech Creativity; Arts; Math; and Animals.
The upper grade program will offer: Architectural Design; Introduction to Puppetry; Arts and Crafts; Drama/Theater; French Conversation; Jazz Band; Robotics; You Be the Judge; Outdoor Adventures; Rocketry; Insects; Health and Study Skills; and Cooking.
All classes will be offered subject to enrollment. Summer school will begin June 24 and end July 19.
Classes for grades 2 through 4 will be held 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Oak Elementary School, 1501 Oak Ave. Classes for grades 5 through 7 will be held 8:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., at Loyola Elementary School, 770 Berry Ave.
The district requests a $110 donation, prorated for students who only partially attend the program.
Registration for the primary enrichment program is by advance mail. Send applications to the Los Altos School District Office, 360 S. San Antonio Road, Suite 15, Los Altos 94022. The postmark deadline is May 9.
Registration for the intermediate enrichment program is scheduled for 7:30-10:30 a.m., May 4, in the Multipurpose Building at Blach Intermediate School, 1120 Covington Road. Registration for specific courses is on a first come, first served basis.
