The Student Art Show, presented features artwork by students in the Los Altos School District and Mountain View-Los Altos Union School District.
The show will be held April 4-7 at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave.
Admisssion is free..Gallery viewing hours: 3-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday from 1- 3 p.m., children are invited to make fun and creative “hands-on” projects.
Financial savvy for girls
The Los Altos-Mountain View Branch of the American Association of University Women will present a series of three workshops, April 10, 17 and 24, titled “Financial Savvy for Women and Girls.”
The workshops are:
April 10: “Take Charge of Your Finances and Build Financial Security,” Sandra Wales, investment advisor.
April 17: “New Estate Tax Rules,” estate planning presented by Joan LeBlanc, Attorney.
April 24: “Banking On Our Future,” by Wells Fargo, teaching money management.
All workshops will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.
Chefs Who Care at Global Village
The “Chefs Who Care” benefit dinner will be held April 8 at the Global Village Cafe, 209 Castro St., Mountain View. Global Village will seat up to 30 people per hour, 5-9 p.m.
To make a reservation and to make your menu selection, call Global Village at 965-4821. After that, either mail your check, made payable to Chefs Who Care, to Community Services Agency, 204 Stierlin Rd, Mountain View 94043; or give your credit card (Visa/MasterCard) information over a 24-hour phone line, 961-3584.
The deadline for prepaying is April 4.
No payments will be accepted at the door. Cost is $20 adults, $10 children (ages 6-12).
Half the dinner cost is donated to the Food and Nutrition Center and is tax deductible.

Cartoonist before Federated Woman’s Club
Les Landin, former cartoonist for the San Francisco Examiner will be the guest speaker at the Federated Woman’s Club of Los Altos luncheon, April 3, at Michael’s Restaurant at Shoreline, Mountain View.
Landin is an expert and enthusiast of the comics dating back to the 40’s and will speak on the history of the comics and how they related to our daily lives at that time.
There will be a business meeting at 11 a.m., with luncheon and program following. Guests are welcome.
