The local Special Education Advisory Committee (SELPA 1CAC) is looking for new members who are interested in making a difference in the special education community in local public schools. The group of parents to special needs students and administrators who work on a wide range of issues related to special education. Meetings are scheduled 9 -11 a.m., the first Monday of each month. ‘Making children mind, without losing yours!’
Parents with children of all ages are invited to attend a six-week video and discussion course, “Making children mind … without losing yours!” Dr. Kevin Leman, parenting expert, author of 21 books and host of TV’s RealFamilies.com, is featured in the video series. The class is split between the video and discussion time with Ken Gammons, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View.
The classes are scheduled 6-7:30 p.m., Jan. 12 through Feb. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View, 1667 Miramonte Ave.
The cost is $10 per couple including baby-sitting, a workbook and refreshments.

Egan Jr. High Tour Days
Ardis Egan Jr. High School will offer campus tours during “Tour Days,” 9:30-10:30 a.m., Jan. 31. Parents of students currently in the sixth grade or new students are encouraged to attend. The tour offers an opportunity to see the campus, observe classroom activities and ask pertinent questions. Visitors are asked to check in at the library, where tours will begin. The tour will also be offered 9:30-10:20 a.m., March 27 and 1:30-2:39 p.m., March 28. Egan is located at 100 W. Portola Ave. For more information call the school office at 941-6174.

Oak PTA presents workshop for parents
The Parent Teachers’ Association at Oak School has scheduled a parent education workship, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Jan. 15, in the Oak School Multipurpose Room.
The workshop is called, “Making sense of College Investments options: Section 529 College Savings Plans.”
