To the 57 real estate agents who work at the Coldwell Banker San Antonio office, Jane Bigelow is their soccer mom. After SILVAR ( Silicon Valley Association of Realtors) named her “Realtor of the Year,” Dec. 6, the realtors signed a soccer ball affirming the award.

“We all wrote nice things on the ball about our team leader,” said Vicki Geers. “She’s a motivator and a good person to talk with about your goals.”

When Avram Goldman, president of Coldwell Banker, presented her with a bouquet of red roses, Bigelow showed complete surprise.

Bigelow is sales manager for the Coldwell Banker office on San Antonio Road. Her job is to oversee the workings of the office, make sure sales contracts are legally written and help create business plans for each agent in the office.

“People think being a realtor is cool because things come easy to them, but that’s not true,” Bigelow said. “They have to plan and strategize their objectives every year.”

Staff member Janice Harris-Adams spoke highly of Bigelow. “She is my second mother away from home and just solid as my mentor.”

In her quiet way, Bigelow is involved with the community: a board member of the Los Altos Village Association, a major worker for the Festival of Lights parade and a volunteer for any project that needs help.

“Since I am a member of the community, my philosophy is to give back,” Bigelow said. “Historically, the Seville office has always been an integral part of community giving and with the recent changeover, it continues to support the community as Fine Homes & Estates Seville Properties.”

As an example, the realty office held a Christmas party last Thursday evening featuring a white elephant auction. Before the night was over, more than $10,300 was donated to the Community Services Agency. The Mountain View-based agency offers services to needy residents.

“This is a wonderful place to be in real estate. We have the opportunity to sell homes in the most beautiful environment in the world,” Bigelow said. “Our weather is perfect and the community cares about itself.

“We have buyers moving up and buyers moving down, and real estate is getting back to normal again. It’s an expensive place to live, but people want to live here,” Bigelow said.
