Michele Tracy Taylor and Nathan Greenville Parker were married June 3 at the Thomas Fogarty Winery, Woodside. A reception followed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Beverly Taylor and the late Sheldon Taylor of Mountain View. She is a graduate of Los Altos High School and received her bachelor’s in science degree in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of California, San Diego.

The groom is the son of Drs. Ronald and Ruth Parker of Berkeley. He graduated from Berkeley High School and has earned a bachelor’s in science degree in electrical engineering.

The couple live in Tucson, Ariz. Michele is pursuing a doctorate in cancer biology and Nathan is pursuing his master’s in atmospheric sciences, both at the University of Arizona.

Hintz, Herberger

Katie Hintz and Mark Herberger were married Sept. 8 at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz. The reception was held at the Cocoanut Grove, Santa Cruz.

The bride is the daughter of David and Shirley Hintz of Los Altos. She is a graduate of St. Francis High School and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Menlo College. She is employed at TMP Worldwide, San Francisco.

The groom is the son of Michael and Carolyn Herberger of San Ramon. He graduated from California High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business from California State University at Chico. He is employed with Corovan Corporate Service in Dublin.

The couple live in San Ramon.

Wheaton, Alexander

Jennifer Wheaton and James Alexander have announced their engagement to be married July 6 at Wente Vineyards, Livermore. A reception will follow.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kevin Wheaton of Los Altos Hills. She is a graduate of Gunn High School, Palo Alto, and earned bachelors degrees in drama and psychology from New York University. She is an actor and singer.

The groom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dudley Alexander of Brentwood. He graduated from Livermore High School and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. He designs audio systems at Sumiko in Berkeley.

The couple plan to live in Livermore.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
