Local firefighters raise $250,000

Los Altos

Palo Alto Firefighters have raised about $250,000 for Sept. 11 victims through a national T-shirt campaign they launched after the terrorist attacks.

Firefighter John Parks created a shirt with the phrase, “All gave some, some gave all” to raise money locally to send to New York. Parks said his intent was to raise about $1,500. Bloomingdale’s discovered the shirt and helped publicize it nationally. The firefighters have sold more than 30,000 T-shirts. Parks and four other firefighters flew to New York to present an initial check for $250,000 to the Fire Department of New York on the Today Show.
