Driver leaves man unconscious in street

Town Crier Staff Report

The identity of the man struck down by a vehicle in Mountain View earlier this month remained unknown Friday. Police said a motorist apparently hit the pedestrian and left him unconscious near the intersection of El Camino Real and El Monte Avenue at around 10:45 p.m., Oct. 15.

Police said the man suffered injuries to his head and leg and was still unconscious at Stanford Hospital last week. No witnesses had stepped forward with information about the driver’s or the man’s identities, police said.

Police described the man as Hispanic and in his early 30s. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes. He has a tattoo of a skull on top of a spade on his left shoulder, a tattoo of a shooting star on the right side of his chest, a tattoo of the Virgin Mary on his back and other tattoos on his right arm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Jim Willette at 903-6344.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
