Oct. 10, 10:20 a.m., Grant Park Lane: Officers were dispatched to control traffic problems caused by construction trucks.

Grand theft

Oct. 10, 10:47 a.m., East El Monte Avenue: A caller reported the theft of a television and a VCR from a church.

Fraud

Oct. 11, 12:04 p.m., North San Antonio Road: A restaurant reported a subject who had no way of paying for the meal he had eaten.

Threats

Oct. 11, 1:16 p.m., Almond Avenue: A caller reported receiving threats.

Hazardous material

Oct. 11, 2:06 p.m., El Camino Real: A caller reported white ash falling from the sky. Officers at the scene determined it was Styrofoam blowing in the wind.

Theft

Oct. 11, 4:44 p.m., Second Street: A caller reported the theft of wallets from a locker room.

Oct. 11, 6:40 p.m., First Street: A caller reported having vehicle tires slashed in the parking lot.

Oct. 13, 2:58 p.m., San Luis Lane: A caller reported a suspicious letter.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
