A candidates’ forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area has been scheduled for 7 p.m. today.
The event will be held in the Program Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road, and is open to the public. Marcia Allen is the moderator.
There are two seats in the Los Altos City Council up for election. Incumbents King Lear and John Moss are on the ballot; but because no one is challenging them, they will be elected.
Lear and Moss will appear at the forum 7-7:30 p.m. to discuss issues of interest to the community, including Measure A, the Transit Occupancy Tax, also on the November ballot.
Residents of the Los Altos School District have a choice to make at the polls Nov. 6. There are four candidates running for three seats on the Board of Trustees: Victor Reid, incumbent; Jay Thomas, incumbent; Bill Cooper, small business owner; and Duane Roberts, appointed incumbent. All the candidates will speak and answer questions at the forum 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Paul Fong and Edward Hay, incumbents for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, will automatically continue their service because no other person filed to run against them. They have been invited to speak at the forum 8:30-9 p.m., but have not confirmed their appearance as of the Town Crier’s Monday press deadline.
The Candidates Forum is co-sponsored by the Los Altos-Mountain View AAUW, the Los Altos-Mountain View PTA Council and the Los Altos main library.
