By Controlled substance

Sept. 21, 7:57 p.m., Fremont and Oakhurst avenues: An officer arrested a subject on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

Traffic hazard

Sept. 22, 4 p.m., Silvian Way: A caller reported a neighbor had placed cones in the street for juveniles to ride through, possibly creating a safety hazard to motorists.

Call for help

Sept. 23, 10:47 p.m., Altos Oaks Drive: A caller reported a woman yelling for help.

A police officer subsequently discovered the call was unfounded.

Public intoxication

Sept. 27, 2:17 a.m., Main Street: A police officer arrested a person suspected of public intoxication.

Drunk driving

Sept. 27, 9:18 p.m., University and El Monte avenues: A caller reported an incident of road rage.

A person was subsequently pulled over and arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Suspicious circumstances

Sept. 28, 1:46 a.m., El Camino Real and San Antonio Road: A caller reported a suspicious-looking cloud. The responding officer said the cloud might have been fog.

Trespassing

Sept. 28, 11:02 a.m., West Portola Avenue: A caller reported that someone had trespassed into a back yard and taken fruits and vegetables.

Domestic violence

Sept. 28, 11:27 a.m., Cuesta Drive: A caller reported domestic violence.

Vicious animal

Sept. 28, 2:56 p.m., Oakhurst Avenue: A caller reported a stray dog attacking chickens on the property.

The dog was confined at the scene by animal control.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
