The League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area has scheduled a forum for candidates running in the Nov. 6 election, 7-9 p.m., Oct. 17, in the Los Altos Library Program Room, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

Marcia Allen will moderate the program which is divided into three distinct sections: Los Altos City Council, Los Altos School District Board, and the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.

There are two seats up for election for city council. Incumbents King Lear and John Moss are on the ballot; but because no one is challenging them, they will be elected.

Lear and Moss will appear at the forum from 7-7:30 p.m. to discuss issues of interest to the community including Measure A and the Transit Occupancy Tax, also on the November ballot.

Only residents of the Los Altos School District have the opportunity to make a choice at the polls Nov. 6.

There are four candidates running for three seats on the board: Victor Reid, incumbent; Jay Thomas, incumbent; Bill Cooper, small business owner; and Duane Roberts, appointed incumbent.

The school district portion of the program is scheduled 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Incumbents for the community college district, Paul Fong and Edward Hay, will automatically continue their service because no other person filed to run against them.

They have been invited to speak from 8:30- 9 p.m.

The Candidates Forum is co-sponsored by the Los Altos-Mountain View AAUW, Los Altos-Mountain View PTA Council and the Los Altos Public Library.
