Batman isn’t expected to make an appearance at this weekend’s Celebrate Los Altos Fall Festival, but his car should be there.
The Batmobile is among the vintage cars that are scheduled to be on display at the annual festival’s Classic Car Show. The car, from the 1960s television series “Batman,” will appear both Saturday and Sunday in downtown Los Altos.
The car show will be staged in the South Parking Plaza between First and Second streets. It will feature approximately 60 pre-1970 vintage cars each day. Cars range from Model Ts to Shelby Mustangs.
An original Los Altos fire truck - a 1929 Ford Model T ladder truck - will be among the automobiles on display.
Also on display both days will be a 1948 Tucker, one of only 51 made that year. Bev and Dorothy Ferreira of San Francisco, who have owned the car since 1970, spent two years restoring it. The car still has the original Franklin modified helicopter engine.
Several Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View residents will be showing their cars, as will classic car owners from as far as Livermore.
There also will be an area of cars for sale.
Honorary judges include Los Altos Mayor King Lear, Los Altos Police Chief Don Johnson, Los Altos High School Principal George Perez, Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District Superintendent Rich Fischer and Palo Alto Concours d’ Elegance representatives Gil Gilfix and Ed Gillis.
A special class of automobiles, winners of last year’s open awards, will be sponsored and judged by the Town Crier.
The festival also will include 160 arts and crafts vendors, food from Los Altos restaurants, wines, micro-brews, entertainment and a sports tent.
